The Topic
An important function of the Topic stage is to present a general overview or outline of the topic and purpose of the paragraph.
The Topic stage
- should answer the question 'What's the paragraph about?'
- is usually, but not always, the first stage of a paragraph and is short - usually only one or two sentences.
- always contains more general information than the following Body stage.
